The loan scheme funded by the European Investment Bank (EIB) through the Government of Sri Lanka, supports investments that contribute to private sector development in the country, and is available to autonomous Small and Medium Enterprises with fewer than 250 full time employees at the time of submitting the application.
A loan can be obtained in SL Rupees (LKR) or US Dollars (USD)
Eligible project cost: Between EUR 100,000 and EUR 25,000,000 or equivalent in other currencies Maximum loan amount : 50% of the eligible project cost Annual interest rate : LKR loans 8% p.a. (Fixed) USD loans 5% p.a. (Fixed) Loan repayment period : Minimum of 4 years and maximum of 10 years (cannot exceed the lifetime of the sub-project)

SMEs are considered autonomous if less than 25% of the equity is owned by another enterprise/individual, or 25% or more of the equity is owned by another enterprise/individual, but the group employs fewer than 500 persons on a consolidated basis.
