DFCC Bank Shines at the ADFIAP Awards 2013

DFCC Bank bagged three awards at the Association of Development Financing Institutions in Asia and the Pacific (ADFIAP) Awards Ceremony held in Mongolia on the 22nd of May 2013. The ADFIAP Awards are keenly contested by 131 members in 45 countries, and DFCC Bank received awards in the following categories:
‘The Most Outstanding Local Economic Development Project’
This award was won for DFCC’s active role in supporting the Annai Sea Food Processing Factory; a state-of-the-art crab and cuttlefish processing plant targeting the export market, which is the first of its kind in the Jaffna district. This project was one of the first to capitalize on the peace dividend after being subject to hardships for over 20 years on account of the war. The Bank guided and financed the venture with a special loan scheme, which has provided direct employment to over 300 people and contributed to the livelihood of those working in the 16 collection centre’s as well as the local fishermen who supply the factory.
‘The Best Annual Report’
DFCC Bank’s annual report for 2011/12 was based on the concept ‘Multiple Strands of Business Lend Strength’. This theme signifies the composite strength of the DFCC Banking Business, weaving the various strands of business- development banking, commercial banking and investment banking into a cohesive whole, providing the vibrancy, energy and speed in serving a diversified portfolio ranging from top corporate to SME’s from project financing to personal financial services and everything in-between.
This was also the first time that the Bank attempted to report in line with the Global Reporting Initiatives.
‘The Best Website (Co-winner)’
The Bank’s ‘Trilingual’ website was re-launched during the year, creating an all-inclusive online community and catering to customers in all spheres of society. The website which integrates DFCC Banks as well as DFCC Vardhana Bank’s services for both businesses and individuals was also recognized at the Best Web Competition organized by the LK Domain registry, winning a Bronze in the Corporate Website Category.
