Who can open accounts online via DFCC digital onboarding

  • Sri Lankan nationals over the age of 18 years
  • Sri Lankan nationals who reside overseas
  • Sri Lankan nationals between the age of 16 – 17 (DFCC Teen)

If you meet the qualifications outlined in the criteria above, you can complete an online application form, undergo a video verification, and establish an account without visiting a physical branch. This is contingent upon the availability of your National Identity Card (NIC) details within the Department of Registration of Persons system.

04. Is it safe to open an account online?

  • Yes, it is safe as we authenticate and verify the applicants through an OTP sent via Email and SMS. Further, this platform is encrypted to ensure your personal information is always protected and secured.

05. Can I access my account using digital banking platforms?

  • Yes. Once the account has been opened, you can access your account and view details and balances using our Digital Banking platforms: DFCC Virtual Wallet and Online Banking.

06. Do I need a valid NIC to open an account online ?

  • You need a NIC or an EIC to open an account online. The NIC/EIC record should be updated in the Department of Registrar Of Persons (DRP) database.

07. Can I open more than one account online?

  • Yes you can open accounts up to a maximum of 3 accounts.

08. How long does it take to open a savings account online?

  • The form takes around 5 – 10 minutes to complete and it will take a maximum of 1 – 2 working days for the account opening process to be completed.

09. What happens after I fill in the form and submit it?

  • You will receive an email from DFCC Bank for the confirmation of the submission and within the next 2 days an agent will contact you to proceed further.

11. Will I receive my account details immediately after opening an account on Digital Onboarding?

  • After the video call verification, the bank will approve the account opening request, and you will be notified with the account number via SMS and email.
