As a part of the DFCC Bank Sustainability Strategy, The Bank donated and installed handwashing booths in 65 rural schools spread across the country to mitigate the Spread of COVID-19.
In order to curb the spread and flatten the curve of COVID cases, sanitation and hand hygiene is a vital element of protecting oneself and those around you. In a school environment, the enforcement of proper hand hygiene will significantly reduce the spread of the virus. This is exactly what DFCC Bank seeks to achieve with the donation of these hand washing booths.
In order to execute this vision of giving the children of Sri Lanka a safe and hygienic experience in school premises, DFCC Bank obtained the support of the Ministry of Education. A significant amount of ground level research was conducted by representatives from DFCC Bank in order to select 65 of the most rural schools that needed the support of the bank’s helping hand.

In addition, the Bank also focuses on six crosscutting themes for implementing its sustainability strategy, namely: Education, Elderly, Entrepreneurship, Environment, Emergency Relief and Exercise. Thus, the Bank is always committed to conduct CSR projects of this nature, which support the country’s education system and also as an Emergency Relief.
As a socially responsible financial institution, the 65th anniversary celebrations of the bank were quite a humble affair as its main objective was to give back to the Sri Lankan community at large.
